England 10/1 not to appoint a rugby union head coach in 2012

ENGLAND ARE just 10/1 with Ladbrokes not to formally appoint a head coach next year.

The bookies are speculating on what the next year will hold for the side, also offering more optimistic fans 150/1 they stay unbeaten. It’s 14/1 they appoint and dismiss a coach in the same calender year.

World champions New Zealand are only 14/1 to avoid defeat in their fixture-packed 2012 and it’s 4/5 they win the inaugural Four Nations tournament.

The firm also look back on a year which saw industry-wide turnover on rugby union reach record levels with the World Cup alone, generating £75 million worth of bets as punters defied time zones to cheer the All Blacks to glory.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “It’s been a fantastic year for rugby betting with the World Cup a high point despite New Zealand’s victory. Looking ahead to next year we predict further turbulence for England, while the world champions look set to go from strength to strength.”
