Phil Taylor crashes in second round to save bookies £500,000

PHIL ‘THE POWER’ TAYLOR has been sensationally dumped out of the Ladbrokes World Darts Championship, costing punters half a million quid.

The sponsors were sweating on unprecedented liabilities on the 15-time world champion having offered a stand-out 5/4 about Taylor earlier this month.

His conqueror Dave Chisnall was an 11/2 chance to spring an unlikely upset and is now just 8/1 to go all the way and win the final on January 2nd.

Last year’s runner-up Gary Anderson is the new 3/1 favourite for the title with James Wade (9/2), Adrian Lewis (5/1) and Simon Whitlock (7/1) all now slashed.

David Williams of sponsors Ladbrokes said: “Taylor’s shock exit has left us reeling but we know for certain that his loyal punters have dropped half a million quid.”
