Round betting best way to make cash out of Amir Khan fight

Bolton-born Amir Khan takes on Lamont Peterson in Washington DC on Saturday night, hoping to raise his profile in the United States with a convincing victory.

Khan is the overwhelming favourite for the clash, priced at just 1/12 to win the fight outright.

His opponent Peterson is 7/1 for a hometown victory, whilst the draw is 33/1.

Due to the nature of the miniscule odds attributed to Khan, it may be wiser to bet on the method of victory if you fancy the Englishman to achieve success on American soil.

The former Olympic silver medalist is 6/4 to win by decision or technical decision, but round betting could be the way to go, whilst also offering punters the chance of a bigger payout.

In his last outing, Khan achieved a fifth round knockout on Zab Judah in Las Vegas to unify the IBF and WBA Light Welterweight titles.

12/1 is the price attributed to a fifth round knockout here, whilst you can also find the same price from rounds five until nine inclusive.

If you believe Khan will end the fight in its early stages, 18/1 is the big price associated with a first round knockout.

This could prove an interesting bet considering Peterson has predominantly boxed only fellow Americans in the past, and a British fighter will be somewhat of an unknown quantity.

Tipped to become the world’s best pound-for-pound fighter in future by the likes of Oscar de la Hoya, Amir Khan’s speed and power should be too much for Peterson to withstand, as the 25-year old looks to cement a legacy Stateside.

“I want to be a huge name in the States, and become a fighter that people remember alongside the likes of Ricky Hatton, Naseem Hamed, Lennox Lewis and Joe Clazaghe,” he recently told The Telegraph.

An emphatic win is essential for Khan on the way to setting up a potential dream fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr., and his short odds for this fight are understandable in light of this.
