The Weekly Accumulator: Reading key to 7/1 home win treble

Published:

Nottingham Forest derailed us on Boxing Day but with the second half of the Championship season starting on New Year’s Eve, we’ve found three hosts who will payout at odds greater than 7/1 if they all triumph…

The most impressive of our trio of teams who we hope will prove home heroes are Reading, who have worked their way up to sixth courtesy of three successive victories, the latest achieved at Brighton’s expense.

They have won three in a row in front of their fans, five in six at any venue and have lost just three of their last 17, so have to be fancied at 4/6 to see off Ipswich.

Paul Jewell’s side have improved recently to save the experienced boss from the sack, however their away form remains unspectacular, with only five points claimed from the last 18 available to them.

One other club can match Reading’s run of five wins in six and that’s Burnley, whose transformation from relegation battlers to play-off contenders got underway with a 3-2 come-from-behind success away to Saturday’s opponents Hull.

The Tigers haven’t been too shabby themselves since Nick Barmby stepped in for Nigel Pearson in the dugout but their Boxing Day defeat to Middlesbrough was their third in five on the road, an uninspiring record for once-great travellers.

With Burnley prevailing in all five meetings between the pair since their shared Premier League campaign in 2009-10, they have to be trusted to deliver again at 13/10.

The final call is the most contentious – Millwall to conquer Crystal Palace in their London derby at 23/20 – and is also influenced by a head-to-head advantage, with the Lions unbeaten in eight against their rivals.

Kenny Jackett’s men have also won three and drawn two of their last five clashes at The New Den, where they have been toppled just twice this season. Millwall have triumphed in four of their last five as hosts, with Palace losing four in five away.

Championship selections
Millwall to beat Crystal Palace @ 23/20
Reading to beat Ipswich @ 4/6
Burnley to beat Hull @ 13/10
