Australian Open: Djokovic to remain favourite with easy win

The year 2011 belonged to Novak Djokovic and there is little to suggest things will be any different this year.

He is currently the 1/1 favourite to retain his Australian Open title and he will take some stopping.

The Serbian has barely broken a sweat to make it to the last 16 of the tournament and has won every match in straight sets.

It’s even more impressive than that though – in his last round victory over a very solid Nicolas Mahut he only dropped two games in a resounding 6-0 6-1 6-1 victory.

He is 1/50 to beat Lleyton Hewitt in this match and it’s extremely hard to see beyond yet another win for the defending champion.

However, if you’re looking to bet on this clash, then backing Djokovic to come through in straight sets at 1/4 still looks very appetising – even at such a short price.

Hewitt has experience though and, if you fancy taking on something a tiny bit longer, then the Australian is currently 12/1 to produce an absolutely massive shock.

Meanwhile, things may be rather tighter in the game between Richard Gasquet and David Ferrer, with the latter the relatively narrow favourite at 1/2.

However, the World No.5 has won five of his six matches against Gasquet and once again should come through in this encounter.

He has never dropped a set in those five victories either, so backing Ferrer to win 3-0 is also worth consideration at 9/4.
