Dancing on Ice: Jennifer Ellison early favourite for ITV show

Just when you thought you had time to detox from the X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing, along comes another reality show to impose on your weekend evenings.

Dancing on Ice kicks off this weekend and, while the line-up may not be the most glittering in the show’s short history, there are plenty of great betting opportunities to be had.

The early favourite for the show is former Brookside star and West End stalwart, Jennifer Ellison.

She’s currently priced at 7/2 to win the show and could well be a contestant worth getting on early.

She’s a trained dancer and has already shown she is a popular figure with the public by winning the 2004 series of Hell’s Kitchen.

She is joined at 7/2 by Emmerdale star Matthew Wolfenden. The actor is a former champion gymnast who was forced to quit after falling from the rings and injuring his back.

His sporting past should at least mean he is competent on the ice and the Emmerdale fan base should see him progress to the latter stages of the competition.

British skier Chemmy Alcott is third in the betting at 6/1 and her athleticism and transferable skills should see her mount a strong challenge.

Meanwhile, Laila Morse – who plays Mo Harris in Eastenders – is the biggest outsider at 50/1 to win the series.

The 66-year-old has been advised by doctors to pull out of the show after tearing a muscle in her shoulder but is determined to carry on.

Finally, former child star Corey Feldman is at 20/1 along with fitness guru Rosemary Conley and Coronation Street star Andy Whyment.
