Expect another easy win for Rafael Nadal at the Australian Open

| 23.01.2012

Tomas Berdych plays World No.2 Rafael Nadal in the quarter finals of the Australian Open having never made it beyond the last eight in Melbourne – and it looks like being another disappointing tournament for the Czech.

The World No.7 made the quarter finals last year before crashing out in straight sets to eventual champion Novak Djokovic.

Djokovic may be in the other side of the draw this year but his match against Nadal – who won the Australian Open in 2009 – should end in more disappointment for Berdych.

The players have faced off 13 times in their careers with Nadal winning ten of those encounters.

In fact, you have to go back to 2006 to find the last time Nadal lost against Berdych with the Spaniard winning all of their previous nine encounters.

Nadal is the 2/9 favourite to win and – even at such short odds – that’s a bet that could prove to be well worth taking on.

A slightly more lucrative wager would be to stick some cash on Nadal winning in straight sets at 11/10.

Nadal hasn’t dropped a set so far in the tournament and Nadal has needed just three sets to win in their two previous Grand Slam encounters at Wimbledon.

However, while Nadal hasn’t dropped a set in Melbourne this year, he did lose a set the last time he played the Czech and a 3-1 win for Nadal can be backed at 12/5.

If you fancy the biggest shock of the men’s tournament so far though, then Berdych is 10/3 to get the win.
