Top score good news for Jorgie on Dancing On Ice

Jorgie Porter finished top of the leaderboard in the first qualification show for Dancing On Ice and this is a good omen that she will win the competition.

The Hollyoaks actress scored a solid 18.5 points in her opening performance, comfortably the highest total of the seven celebrities taking part in the first show.

Three previous Dancing On Ice competitions have had two qualification episodes before beginning the actual week one and the top point scorer on the first of these has always finished in the first two in the end.

Ray Quinn and Hayley Tamaddon both won the show after scoring highly in the first week, while Laura Hamilton was second behind Sam Attwater.

This bodes well for Jorgie’s chances and as a result she has been backed into 13/8 from 6/1 in the Dancing On Ice odds to triumph in the seventh series of the show, while she was as big as 14/1 when the betting was first opened.

British Olympic skier Chemmy Alcott was the other stand-out act on the first show and remains steady at 6/1 to win after swapping her skis for skates.

Therefore in terms of the betting, it is the celebrities yet to step foot on the ice in the public who are considered the closest challengers to Jorgie.

Matthew Wolfenden, who has followed Hayley from Emmerdale to the ice, is the second favourite for victory at 5/2 and his background in gymnastics could help his chances.

Jennifer Ellison was considered the early favourite for success, but has drifted from 7/2 to 6/1, despite still waiting to make her first appearance.

Other big movers in the betting after the first show are Heidi Range and Mark Rhodes, with the Sugababe finding herself in the bottom two and the children’s TV presenter ending the night with the lowest score from the judges.
