Tottenham vs Wolves: Red-hot Spurs to scare off visitors

Published:

Wolves could hardly have picked a worse time to travel to White Hart Lane.

They will meet a Tottenham side who are now being taken seriously as title contenders, and after suffering just one defeat since August, the Londoners have had their price slashed to 6/1 for the Premier League crown.

They are just 1/4 to see off Mick McCarthy’s Wolves though, and should be able to break them down without too much hassle.

The 11/1 visitors are teetering precariously above the drop zone, and their hopes of getting anything out of the game would seem to hinge on top scorer Steven Fletcher, who is a monster 12/1 to score the first goal.

Should the prolific Scotsman manage that, the 9/2 price about the draw would seem quite generous, though Spurs can be expected to find the net on more than one occasion.

That said, Wolves did manage to nick a 1-0 win at White Hart Lane last season.

Tottenham are a different proposition altogether this campaign though, and a 3-1 home win at 10/1 in the Premier League odds stands out in the correct scoreline betting.

Being touted by many as the most attractive side to watch at the moment, Spurs attacking approach can leave them vulnerable at the back, but they are always likely to score more, as proved by their 38 goals scored in 20 games, and 20 conceded in the same amount.

Those looking for goalscorer bets may take an interest in Jermain Defoe, who has been back amongst the goals recently, with two in his last three outings at the Lane.

His 7/2 odds are appealing to score the first or last goal, considering he has seven Premier League strikes to his name so far this term, despite being used rather sparingly by boss Harry Redknapp.

Rafael Van der Vaart is another interesting option to score first at 4/1, with the Dutchman hopeful of re-establishing himself as the main man at Tottenham, after a less spectacular season so far.
