Patriots favourites heading into Super Bowl clash with the Giants

The Super Bowl XLVI takes place this weekend and sees the New York Giants face-off against the New England Patriots and everything is pointing to this being an incredibly tight clash.

It’s a repeat of the 2008 final that saw the Giants emerge victorious thanks to a narrow 17-14 victory.

The odds point to a reversal of fortunes this time out but, if you can see history repeating itself, then Ladbrokes are offering special odds of 80/1 for the same result and score to be repeated at the Lucas Oil Stadium.

The Patriots are currently 20/27 to record their first Super Bowl victory since 2005 and based on their regular season record they will be hard to beat.

The finished with a 13-3 winning record and headed into the play-offs seeded first after winning the AFC East for the eighth time in nine years.

They then swept aside Denver 45-10 in the play-offs before squeezing past Baltimore 23-20 in the AFC Championship game.

With the likes of Tom Brady and Wes Welker continuing to show their class they look set to claim their seventh title.

However, they shouldn’t have things all their own way and the Giants have shown their grit and determination continually through the regular season and in the play-offs.

They are the first team to ever reach the Super Bowl after being outscored by their opponents in the regular season and came through a similarly tight NFC Championship game to beat San Francisco 20-17 to make the Super Bowl.

With Ladbrokes offering the best prices on winning margin bets, then a punt on the Patriots to scrape through looks the most tempting proposition.

The Patriots are 4/1 to come through by a margin of 1-6 points and 11/2 to win by 7-12 points.
