Stevenage vs Tottenham: Spurs to go goal crazy in London derby

Published:

Amidst a very real challenge for a first ever Premier League title, it is little surprise to see Tottenham Hotspur short-priced at 3/10 to cope with an away trip to local rivals Stevenage by claiming victory.

The home side are 9/1 to win, and whilst their league form has been impressive even in the aftermath of the recent departure of manager Graham Westley, it appears highly unlikely that the League One side can maintain their status as an FA Cup entrant.

If you do fancy the playoff challengers to earn a replay however, the draw can be backed at 4/1.

Any fears that the media circus surrounding Spurs boss Harry Redknapp would affect his players were quickly allayed during Tottenham’s 4-0 smash of Newcastle last week, and they could find the net a similar amount of times here.

An exact repeat of that scoreline in Tottenham’s favour is 12/1, whilst braver punters may like the 22/1 for a 5-0 Spurs win, or the 28/1 on offer for a 5-1 away success.

Tottenham can be backed to be leading at both half-time and full-time at 4/6, and the 5/4 for Spurs to win both halves is deserving of serious attention.

As an emphatic away victory looks the most likely outcome in the match, Tottenham to win giving up a goal start at 4/5 should not be sniffed at, yet the 11/5 price for the away side to triumph giving up two goals from the off is even more tempting.

Although Champions League qualification is Redknapp’s priority, that appears a near certainty now, and so he is likely to name a strong side to ensure progression in a cup his team have a great chance of winning.

Jermain Defoe should start, and the poacher can reward punters by hitting the opener at 3/1, whilst Jake Livermore may get a run out, and could find the net last at a big 14/1.
