Wales made favourites to win Six Nations following Ireland victory

Wales’ hard-earned but controversial victory over Ireland has seen their odds of winning the Six Nations slashed by Ladbrokes.

Wales had Leigh Halfpenny’s last minute penalty to thank for snatching a 23-21 victory in an enthralling game at the Aviva Stadium.

Warren Gatland’s men have now been cut to 6/4 joint favourites along with France who had a comfortable opening victory against Italy.

However, it’s Wales who look the most likely to go on and lift the trophy following their last minute heroics.

Having already negotiated one tough away day in Ireland, Wales’ only other game away from the Millennium stadium is a trip to Twickenham.

England didn’t show much in their stuttering victory over Scotland to worry the Welsh and backing them to see off England on February 25 could be well worth considering.

With games against Italy, Scotland and a potential championship decider against France in their last game all at Cardiff, the Welsh will be confident of winning, not just the championship, but the Grand Slam.

Meanwhile, England have drifted to 9/2 to win the Six Nations despite winning against Scotland.

Stuart Lancaster’s England revolution is starting to look more like an evolution and things may take a little while for the new-look England team to get things moving in the right direction.

Ireland have gone out to 8/1 following their loss, while Scotland are now a massive 100/1 to win their first Six Nations championship.

Italy are the big outsiders at 500/1 and they can almost certainly be dismissed when looking who to back in any of the games in the championship.
