Bet on drifting Kauto Star at 9/2 in Cheltenham Gold Cup odds

Kauto Star is unsurprisingly the best backed horse of the day to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup but Ladbrokes believe he will be beaten and are offering a very tempting 9/2 that he triumphs.

Having started the day at 7/2, there was some belief that he may even threaten Long Run for favouritism as punters cheered the horse to end his career on the ultimate high in what could well prove his final race.

However, he has in fact gone the other way in the Cheltenham betting and is now perhaps a tempting each-way price to follow up on finishing third last year.

Paul Nicholls has hardly had the most prolific Festival to date, but has trained winners in two of the biggest three races so far as Rock On Ruby upset Hurricane Fly in the Champion Hurdle and then Big Buck’s landed a record-breaking fourth successive Ladbrokes World Hurdle.

Therefore, he clearly knows how to train a winner when it matters and has already got Kauto Star spot on for victories over 2/1 Cheltenham Gold Cup favourite Long Run in the Betfair Chase and King George this season.

Meanwhile, he is also thought to have fully overcome a fall during schooling in the past month as he bids to become the oldest winner of the Gold Cup for 43 years.

As the money piles on Kauto Star, Long Run is friendless and rather than back the favourite, punters are focusing on the each-way market.

Synchronised has been well supported into 9/1 from 10/1, while Burton Port has been steady at 7/1 after running Long Run on his last start and he is expected to improve for this performance.
