Wales coach Gatland roaring success in Lions’ candidates

Published:

WARREN GATLAND is the favourite to lead the British and Irish Lions to success in 2013, according to Ladbrokes.

With the RFU publicly stating they would like the Wales boss to take charge the bookies quote him at 1/5 to take a sabbatical from the newly crowned Six Nations winners and coach the Lions in Australia next year.

Other runners for the job include current England interim coach Stuart Lancaster at 6/1, Declan Kidney (10/1) and Ian McGeechan (20/1). England’s failed World Cup coach Martin Johnson earns an outside quote of 100/1.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “Wales won’t want to lose Gatland but the odds suggest they’ll have to surrender and let him go for a year. He’s the man of the moment and coaching the Lions is an opportunity he can’t pass on.”
