Juventus v Lazio: history on side of hosts as they chase top spot

Published:

Undefeated Juventus head into this Serie A clash looking to regain their place at the top of the table after AC Milan recorded a hard-fought victory at Chievo.

The Old Lady are 1/2 favourites to dispose of third-placed Lazio and with four consecutive wins in Serie A and the visitors losing three of their last five, it is easy to see why.

History also favours the Turin side, who haven’t lost to the Eagles in their last six meetings.

Lazio find themselves occupying the remaining Champions League spot in Italy, and were victorious over the attacking prowess of Napoli last time out, and having already beaten Milan this season, are priced at 11/2 to win against the other breakaway side in the league.

Despite being top of Serie A, Juve have drawn nearly half of their games this season, meaning any game involving Antonio Conte’s men sees punters flock for the stalemate, and a price of 3/1 looks good value for this clash in Turin.

Taking the Bianconeri’s penchant for a draw into account, a price of 7/2 for the tie to be all-square after 45 minutes and there still to be nothing to separate them after the full-time whistle, looks like the sensible market here, especially considering Juve have been level at the break in 14 of their 31 fixtures this season.

Juve have not conceded in their last five Serie A fixtures and are at 11/10 to keep another clean sheet when they line-up against Edoardo Reja’s side.

Lazio have been involved in three 3-1 scorelines in the last five games, the Roman side can be backed at a massive 80/1 to be on the right end of that margin and are at 9/1 to have it inflicted upon themselves.
