Grosjean represents terrific each-way value in Spanish Grand Prix

Circuit de Catalunya hosts a compelling Spanish Grand Prix this weekend, with the form of Lotus cars making their driver Romain Grosjean look huge at 16/1 to win the race.

The Barcelona renewal of the Formula One season comes in succession of Mugello testing last week, during which Grosjean recorded the joint-fastest lap time, along with Sauber driver Kamui Kobayashi.

Grosjean has finished in the points and on the podium in his last two outings, in Shanghai and Bahrain respectively, so carries tremendous form to Barcelona.

His performance on the Tuscany testing circuit last week indicated his recent performances have been no fluke, and have dispelled lingering doubts over Lotus’ pace, particularly on a dry track.

Dry weather is again expected on Sunday, which will suit Grosjean and Lotus team-mate Kimi Raikkonen down to the ground.

Raikkonen himself is an interesting proposition, as he enters a race he was won on two occasions in the past.

The only other driver in the race to achieve multiple successes at the Spanish circuit is Michael Schumacher, though his continued complaints regarding his Pirelli tyres will deter punters from backing the Mercedes man at 16/1.

Instead, Raikkonen could be worth a punt as an 8/1 shot, after finishing an impressive second place in Bahrain last month, and with further Lotus improvements expected this weekend.

Lotus will have to overhaul 3/1 joint-favourite, and last year’s race winner Sebastian Vettel if they are to be triumphant in the race however.

Vettel recorded the third best time in his Red Bull in Mugello, whilst his 12/1 team-mate Mark Webber finished only marginally behind him.

Amongst others high in the betting, McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton is 3/1 joint-favourite, whilst his fellow British team-mate Jenson Button is a 7/2 shot.

McLaren’s exhaust configuration has proved popular amongst many teams this year, and this could stand their drivers in good stead to achieve a podium finish in Spain.
