5:35 Royal Ascot: Anomaly no odd one out in day four closer

Many of the fancied runners in the King George V Stakes are towards the foot of the weights, but with the winner typically being of a higher rating, it is Anomaly that can prove a class above his rivals at 9/1.

Some ten of the last 12 winners of the 1m4f contest have entered with an official rating of at least 87, which rules out favourite Nicholascopernicus and fellow market leader Gabrial The Great.

Nicholascopernicus has been a big improver in recent weeks, with two easy victories already in June when eased down before the winning post.

He is up 9lb in the weights for this visit to Royal Ascot, but given the manner of his victories, this new mark may not be beyond him.

Gabrial The Great is 6/1 and brings a strong pedigree into the race as he is sired by Montjeu.

He seems to have been given a fair mark on his handicap debut and will no doubt be a strong traveller in-running, but there are doubts to how much he will find when push comes to shove.

Anomaly is rated 93 after a dominant maiden win last time, where the horse that finished over 11 lengths adrift in third has come out and won since.

The extra 2f are not expected to pose any problems as he was being considered for the Derby at one point previously and if allowed to set his own pace up front, he could prove difficult to pass.

At bigger prices, Misdemeanour is one for the shortlist at 20/1.

Misdemeanour lost her unbeaten record on her seasonal reappearance at Goodwood, but this should have shaken off any cobwebs and it was also her first start on turf.

She is not guaranteed to see out the trip and something closer to 1m looking like a more optimum distance, but she is worth each-way money in case she stays.
