Capital One Cup accumulator: Top tier away sides offer best value

Published:

With a host of Capital One Cup ties set to take place tonight, we believe we have selected four winners to return at over 11/1.

Southampton are our first choices, as they aim to record a morale-boosting victory in the aftermath of consecutive Premier League defeats.

They are a big 11/10 when travelling to League One Stevenage, and will hold no fears considering their terrific away record of recent times.

The Saints have won 30 league matches on the road across the past three seasons, and they can kick-start their campaign with away success tonight.

West Brom are another Premier League away side who look well worth siding with tonight meanwhile, as 5/6 shots against Yeovil at Huish Park.

Yeovil currently top League One, but in Albion face a side that has taken four Premier League points from games against fancied Liverpool and Tottenham outfits so far.

The travelling Baggies look resilient under new boss Steve Clarke, and should have too much quality for their third tier counterparts in this clash.

And Swansea are the final Premier League pick of our four-fold, as 2/5 chances to dispose of Barnsley at the Liberty Stadium.

The Swans have started the season in blistering form, scoring eight times and failing to concede in back-to-back Premier League triumphs.

In Barnsley they meet a side who have lost each of their two opening away games of the season, and have failed to beat Swansea since 1983.

These teams collided in cup competition last season, when Swansea were the 4-2 victors, and a repeat of the Welsh side’s triumph should be expected here.

Meanwhile, Middlesbrough round off our accumulator as 5/4 hopes for success away to Gillingham.

‘Boro have recorded consecutive Championship victories, seeing them ascend to a Championship play-off spot.

They face a difficult task at Priestfield in an unbeaten Gillingham side, but should have enough quality to overcome their hosts.

The away side list players such as ex-Real Madrid defender Jonathan Woodgate amongst their ranks, which indicates the gulf in class between the sides, which ‘Boro should make count.
