Life And Soul to ensure party atmosphere at York with Ebor win

Published:

Each-way punters have enjoyed great success in the Ebor Handicap in recent years and this run can continue this month with Life And Soul at 25/1.

Three of the last four winners of the 1m6f handicap have been sent off at a starting price of 25/1, including last year’s winner Moyenne Corniche.

However, fitting in with this pricing trend is not the only reason that Life And Soul is expected to feature at York.

Official rating has been a key factor when researching recent winners, with eight of the last 11 victors being rated between 92 and 102.

Life And Soul gets in here off a mark of 93 and as a result is well weighted at 8st 7lb, with horses carrying 8st 12lb or less holding the dominant hand in recent years.

Age has been another pivotal feature of recent winners, with five of the last 11 being five-year-olds.

These four above trends reduced the field to three probable winners, but Tominator has been below par this season and was well down the field in the Ebor last season.

Never Can Tell would seemingly prefer more of a stamina test and so preference is for Life And Soul.

Life And Soul seemingly saw out 1m6f on her first attempt at the distance and holds a victory over smart hurdler Grumeti this season.

This victory may be significant as nine of the last 11 Ebor winners had previously triumphed earlier in the same season, while this second over the Ebor trip is also worth taking note of.

This is because nine of the last 11 Ebor winners had also finished in the first two in either of their last two starts before arriving at York.
