The Manchester United midfielder, who turns 39 in November, is two appearances short of 600 outings in the Premier League.

Giggs is already top of the all-time appearance charts in the Premier League and holds the distinction of being the only player to score in every Premier League season.

Owen has a point to prove

Do you remember the last time Michael Owen scored a Premier League goal?

You’ll need a decent memory because it was back in May 2011 during Manchester United’s 4-2 win over Blackpool at Old Trafford, a result that condemned Ian Holloway’s men to relegation.

The former England star has been stuck on 149 Premier League goals ever since – and will be hoping to revive his fortunes at his next club following his United exit earlier this summer.

Merseyside duo poised to join the 500 club

There’s no love lost between Phil Neville and Jamie Carragher.

Whether during Neville’s Manchester United days or in his role as Everton captain, the duo have been fierce rivals on the pitch – and they are this season locked in a battle to make it to 500 Premier League appearances.

Both have played in excess of 480 Premier League games, so it promises to be an interesting tussle over the opening few months of the new season to see who makes it first.

Potters close in on 50 Premier League wins

It’s fair to say Tony Pulis and his Stoke side have ruffled a few feathers since sealing their top-flight return in 2008.

But hats off – or should that be baseball caps off in the case of Pulis – to the Potters for becoming so difficult to beat in the Premier League, especially at the Britannia Stadium.

Stoke now enter the new season having won 47 Premier League games in total – and they are 11/4 to get another victory at home to Arsenal this weekend.

Magnificent seven ready to reach 800 not out

Seven teams will break through the 800-game barrier in the Premier League this season.

Arsenal, Aston Villa, Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham are the only clubs to have competed in all 20 Premier League campaigns so far.

That means this septet have each played 772 times in total in the Premier League.
