Tottenham interested in signing Man Utd’s midfield pair

Tottenham are on red alert as Manchester United prepare to offload midfielders Anderson and Nani.

Despite taking just a point from their first two Premier League fixtures, Spurs could be good value at 11/4 to finish in the top four again this season.

And Andre Villas-Boas’ squad would be significantly bolstered if he were able to add either Anderson or Nani to his White Hart Lane squad.

The Portuguese manager is in the market for a replacement for the Real Madrid-bound Luka Modric, and has also not ruled out making a move for a forward.

Man Utd are reportedly looking to recoup some of the near-£50m the club have outlayed on new talent this summer, including the pricey acquisition of Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie.

With Nani often frustrating boss Sir Alex Ferguson with his lack of consistency, and Anderson’s progress during his five seasons at Old Trafford limited, both could be set to make way.

Portuguese winger Nani was left out of Fergie’s starting line-up for the home side’s victory over Fulham, and Spurs could be set to make a £15m swoop for the talented 25-year-old.

A similar sized bid would need to be offered to prize Brazilian Anderson away from Manchester, although Villas-Boas is not short of options in his pursuit of new players.

Tottenham have been credited with a long-standing interest in Porto’s Joao Moutinho, who Spurs’ new manager knows well from his successful spell at Estadio do Dragao.

Playmaker Willian of Shakhtar Donetsk and compatriot Leandro Damaio, a Brazilian striker, have also been linked with moves to White Hart Lane.

However, if Spurs were to sign Nani and Anderson, they would be signing two players that are used to the rigour of the Premier League.
