Van Persie to continue goalscoring form at Man Utd

Manchester United have completed the £24m signing of former Arsenal captain, top goalscorer and talisman Robin Van Persie.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s latest capture bagged 30 league goals for the Gunners last term, and can be backed at 5/1 to go one better at his new club and score 31 or more Premier League strikes.

But with Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck, Javier Hernández and Dimitar Berbatov vying with the Dutchman for a spot in the Man Utd first team, competition for places is fierce.

Last year was the first time in eight campaigns with Arsenal that Van Persie broke the 20 goal mark, finishing the season with a prolific tally of 37 strikes from 48 appearances.

The 29-year-old will hope to continue his good form into the 2012/13 term with his new employers, whilst Man Utd’s two league clashes with Arsenal will be feisty affairs.

The striker’s first meeting with his old club is scheduled for November 3rd at Old Trafford, while RVP and Man United will make the trip to the Emirates on April 27th.

The market on how many league goals Van Persie will score against the Gunners has opened, with a blank tally priced at 15/8. One strike is 11/8, two goals are 3/1 and three of more can be found at 5/1.

Last season’s PFA Player of the Year can also be backed at 11/4 to pick up the award this season.

If you fancy a flutter on whether RVP will score more league goals than his new strike partner Wayne Rooney this season, then he is priced at 10/11. Meanwhile, Rooney can be backed at 4/5.

Betting on their combined tally offers a price of 5/6 for either under or over 42.5 league strikes.
