Leeds v Everton: Goals on cards in Championship v Prem clash

Published:

Everton head to Elland Road for their Capital One Cup third round tie and goals are forecast in west Yorkshire.

Ladbrokes are offering just 4/7 for there to be over 2.5 goals scored in this one but, considering the amount of goals these two teams have managed this season, it’s as good as money in the bank for punters.

In the nine games Leeds have played to date, only one game has produced fewer than 2.5 goals, with Neil Warnock’s side scoring 19 in that time.

Four of Everton’s six games have also been goal-filled encounters and the Toffees have found the back of the net on 14 occasions this season.

The clubs have not faced off since Leeds’ relegation from the Premier League in 2004 but, in the years preceding that, Everton enjoyed a good record against their next adversaries.

David Moyes’ charges are unbeaten in five games with Leeds; a spell in which they won three and conceded just one goal. They’re priced up as 5/6 favourites to maintain this run and progress to the next round in 90 minutes.

Four of Leeds’ games this season have finished with a 2-1 scoreline, three of them in their favour. They can be backed at 10/1 to win by that margin again here, or at a very reasonable 16/5 to win the game in normal time.

Second only to over 2.5 goals being scored, a solid bet here is the 8/13 on offer for both teams to find the back of the net at Elland Road.

Six of Leeds’ last seven have seen both sides beat the keeper and, although they’re set to face their most challenging opposition so far this season, Everton will likely rest many big names in a bid to maintain their excellent league form, meaning Leeds should get chances in the final third.
