Punters piling into top-price Oosthuizen for Deutsche Bank

Louis Oosthuizen may have never played at TPC Boston before, but that has not stopped punters backing him at 33/1 to win the Deutsche Bank Championship.

Ladbrokes face a six-figure pay-out if the South African is successful in the second event of the FedEx Cup play-offs and his recent form suggests he must be given a leading chance.

Oosthuizen finished fifth at The Barclays and what was most notable was that he led the whole field in terms of finding greens in regulation.

This statistic is a big plus in the Deutsche Bank Championship, with the course being among the easiest on the PGA Tour schedule, meaning there is expected to be birdies in abundance.

The fact he sits 24th in the tour rankings for birdie average additionally shows that he is capable of capitalising on any approach-play accuracy.

Oosthuizen has also finished second at The Masters this year, alongside a fourth at the Bridgestone Invitational.

But the 2010 British Open champion is not the only player down the golf betting being backed for success in the Deutsche Bank Championship.

At 66/1, there has been money for both John Senden and Bill Haas.

Australian Senden has finished in the top 25 in each of the last three years in the Deutsche Bank Championship and has to be considered on courses where a bigger premium comes from hitting greens in regulation.

The one worry is that his putting can be very hit and miss, but if he enjoys some success on the greens in Boston, he can challenge.

Haas has to be respected after topping the FedEx Cup standings last year and has the short game to be in contention.

However, one top-ten finish in his last 16 tournaments since February is not ideal, while he missed the cut at The Barclays.
