Go one step further when backing Man Utd and Bayern

Published:

Our tips on the opening night of gameweek four of the Champions League were not overly successful, but we intend to make amends here.

Bayern Munich and Manchester United are two clubs we are expecting to win, but we have gone one step further with our predictions, while also fancying goals when Benfica host Spartak Moscow.

Bayern Munich v Lille: Bayern HT/FT @ 1/2

This may not be the most lucrative price, but with three teams on six points in Group F, Bayern will know that beating the point-less team at home is vital if they want to reach the knockout rounds, especially as group winners.

Bayern have won five of their last seven games in all competitions and have been leading at half time on every occasion, while they have failed to score in the opening period in both failures to win in this period.

They struck early in Lille and can do the same here.

Benfica v Spartak Moscow: Over 2.5 goals @ 4/6

All three of Spartak Moscow’s games so far in the Champions League this season have witnessed at least three goals scored, while the line has also been covered in Benfica’s last five fixtures in all competitions.

Throw in that there were 28 shots fired in when the pair previously met in Russia and it is hard to oppose goals in this one.

Man Utd to beat Braga with over 2.5 goals in match @ 5/2

Manchester United’s last ten outings have resulted in at least three goals being scored, including when they beat Braga 3-2 at Old Trafford.

Braga have not been involved in an encounter this season that has seen less than two goals scored, so this one promises goals too.

Sir Alex Ferguson has taken a full-strength team to Braga so is clearly intent on winning, while they have not lost in Portugal on any of their last four visits.
