Chelsea and Man City only Premier League options for Ibrahimovic

The Premier League would almost certainly be robbed if it failed to witness the undeniable talent of Zlatan Ibrahimovic in his career, but time is running out if this hope is to become a reality.

Suggestions that Ibrahimovic never does the business on the biggest stage and is the most over-rated player in world football have slowly began to fade and his four goals against England would have certainly brought about a new-found appreciation from supporters.

The fact that he has won eight successive league titles across multiple countries is something else that should be praised, but the chance to win one in England has never materialised.

Ladbrokes are offering 2/1 that the Swedish hitman does play in the Premier League before he retires, but this seems highly unlikely now that he has reached the age of 31.

Virtually all of the biggest clubs have systems in place to avoid buying players over 30 and even the ones that they have are reduced to short-term contracts.

Clubs with some backing which are attempting to close the gap on the top four quickly maybe would make such an acquisition, but given that Ibrahimovic has only ever played in teams with a significant chance of winning a domestic title, it is unlikely that QPR would appeal to the Swede.

The only plausible options are really Manchester City and Chelsea, but these even seem a little far-fetched.

Roberto Mancini is often outspoken in his belief that Ibrahimovic is the most complete forward in world football and how much he would love to sign him.

But given the financial package Ibrahimovic is currently on at PSG, whether Man City could even afford him with their millions is debatable and the club is clearly not short in the department of expensive strikers.

Chelsea would arguably seem the more realistic destination, given their shortage of strikers and the fact that Roman Abramovich has already proved with Andriy Shevchenko that he is prepared to cough up for an ageing player if it is one that he personally approves of.

However, both moves have little realistic substance to them and of all of the Ibrahimovic specials currently available with Ladbrokes, the 500/1 that he is the Swedish prime minister in his lifetime has the most appeal to it.
