Van Persie winner over Man City helps punter scoop over £60,000

| 12.12.2012

Robin Van Persie’s injury-time winner at the Etihad did more than strengthen Manchester United’s position at the summit of the Premier League as it ensured that one punter landed over £60,000 from a £2 accumulator.

The lucky punter placed the bet in a Ladbrokes shop in Birmingham and scooped the windfall after all of his 14 selections were successful.

The winning sum was initially £46,814.56, but the winner qualified for an additional 30 per cent bonus due to being an Odds On customer.

All English and Scottish league and cup games are included as part of the bonus, with its size going up based on the number of selections. The 30 per cent bonus is for accumulators predicting nine results or more.

The Odds On reward card ensures that customers earn points every time they place a bet in a Ladbrokes shop and once enough points have been earned, these can be exchanged for free bets and bonuses.

Van Persie’s stoppage-time goal was one of the highlights as Manchester United were included at 15/8 to inflict a first home defeat on Manchester City since 2010.

Equally bold was picking Crewe to triumph at Preston, which was the biggest-priced inclusion at 13/5, while the punter took the mammoth risk of siding with Fulham in their Monday night win over Newcastle, meaning he had 24 hours nervously waiting for one more result to ensure his payout.
