South Africa and Morocco to kick off African Nations Cup with wins

Published:

A double backing both South Africa and Morocco to win their opening day African Cup of Nations matches offers a return of 3.30.

Both sides have never lost against their upcoming opponents, and should be relied upon to kick off their continental crusades with victory.

South Africa to beat Cape Verde Islands @ 4/7

The Bafana Bafana are favourites for victory in the competition’s curtain raiser against Cape Verde, priced at 4/7.

Having hosted the 2010 World Cup, South Africa are used to being the centre of footballing attention and will fancy their chances against Group A minnows Cape Verde.

Cape Verde actually have a higher FIFA ranking than that of their opponents, but aren’t likely to see victory here with a price of 5/1.

The draw is 11/4, but South Africa have won their last two meetings against the West African island and will strive to ensure that becomes three in front of home support.

Both those games ended 2-1 to the team in yellow and green, and another scoreline to that effect could be worth a punt again at 15/2.

Gordon Igesund’s side will hope for a more comfortable win however, with a half-time/full-time triumph available at 6/5.

Siphiwe Tshabalala could repeat his trick at the World Cup and be the first player to score in this tournament by breaking the deadlock at 7/1.

Morocco to beat Angola at 11/10

Morocco and Angola have met five times in recent years, with Angola suffering a terrible record against the North African side.

Morocco have won four of those five games – the other was drawn – and will feel confident of kicking of their African Cup of Nations campaign with a win at 11/10.

Head coach Rachid Taoussi will hope his side don’t miss their Premier League stars however, having decided to leave QPR midfielder Adel Taraabt and on-loan West Ham striker Marouane Chamakh out of the squad.

Angola will be glad the duo are missing, but will still face an uphill task to record victory priced at 13/5.

The draw is a tempting 11/5, but star man Younes Belhanda can ensure they get the three points.

Former Manchester United man Manucho could be a goal threat for Angola though, and is priced at 5/1 to score first.
