Chelsea v Sparta Prague: Blues offer handicap betting value

Published:

Chelsea enter the second leg of this Europa League round of 32 tie in a very comfortable position, after achieving a 1-0 win away to the Czech Republic side.

In truth, the Blues could have won by many more in the initial leg, and they have the potential to advance whilst racking up a healthy goal total here.

3/10 for the win in 90 minutes, Rafa Benitez’s side can alternatively be backed at 9/10 to win giving up a goal head-start, and 11/5 to win with an initial two-goal disadvantage.

Considering Chelsea scored 11 goals in just three Champions League home games this season, that 11/5 looks a superb price.

Two of those matches resulted in Stamford Bridge wins for the hosts, and the lowest-scoring of the games still featured four goals.

At 13/10, the Blues will be popular to score two or three times, but could be worthy of more serious interest to score four or more goals at 7/2.

Strengthening that notion is the fact that Chelsea’s last European outing ended 6-1 in their favour.

Whilst a host of goals should be expected for the home side, they have been far from solid defensively on their own patch in Europe this term.

And as such, a bet on both teams to score in this match has some appeal at 5/4.

It’s 5/2 regarding a Chelsea win in which both sides are breached meanwhile, and that too looks worthy of investment, with visitors Prague scoring in all but one of their Europa League games this term.

Those fancying an upset can have 9/1 about an away triumph, though Prague’s failure to win on the road in this competition should be enough to deter many from this.

They have managed two Europa League draws on their travels, but the stalemate would appear to be beyond them at 4/1 against a side with such European pedigree.

Frank Lampard is set to be rested for the Blues, but this match could represent the perfect chance for Fernando Torres to get back on the goal trail at Stamford Bridge.

The Spaniard is 4/1 favourite to break the deadlock.
