Make money on half markets as England host France in Six Nations
Published:The majority of the point-scoring action has come in the first half in the most recent meetings between England and France and there is no reason to suggest that things will be any different in the Six Nations this time at Twickenham.
It is the second period that is considered the most likely to be the highest-scoring half at Twickenham at 4/5, but history between the two indicates that it is the opening half that sees the most points.
In the last six showdowns between England and France, five have witnessed higher-scoring first periods, with the one exception being last year’s Six Nations meeting.
On this occasion, remarkably both halves saw 23 points contributed and 18/1 is the price that the same number of points are scored in each period of 40 minutes again.
There are a couple of interesting half markets available for the showdown, with England 1/1 to score more points than France after the half-time break when giving up a four-point start.
In each of the last four meetings, and five of the last six, England have out-pointed France in the second half of games and in two of the last three would have covered the four-point second-half handicap.
Meanwhile, looking solely at the first 40 minutes of matches, France have only been behind in one of their last four with England and this was by just five points.
France are 4/5 to triumph at the break this time with a four-point lead and that price looks solid, especially as they have not been behind at half-time in either of their Six Nations games with Italy and Wales so far.
England may have won both their games in the Six Nations, while France have lost both of theirs, but 1/3 on a home win does look on the short side, with the French 9/4 to triumph.
