Barcelona remain favourites, but Real Madrid do best in Champions League draw

It would certainly be ironic if Zlatan Ibrahimovic was responsible for the demise of Barcelona in this season’s Champions League and he has the chance to be given that his PSG have drawn the 13/8 tournament favourites in the quarter finals.

There is something soothing in the knowledge that no teams from the same country have drawn each other at this stage as it retains the feeling that this is a proper continental competition.

Ibrahimovic serves the second game of a ban in the first leg, but will return for the trip to the Nou Camp.

Interestingly, on the only occasion PSG have previously reached the quarter finals, they knocked out Barcelona in 1995 and are 9/2 to do so again.

Juventus lifted the Champions League in 1996 and this was the last occasion in which there was no British representation in the quarter finals of the competition.

They have not been handed the easiest passage if lightning is to strike twice as they have been drawn alongside Bayern Munich in the last-eight.

One potential ray of light is that Andrea Pirlo has never been on the losing time in six games with Bayern Munich and it is 6/4 that Juventus qualify.

Real Madrid will be pleased to have be pulled out alongside Galatasaray, although the Turkish club did win the first leg when these two clashed at the same stage of the competition in 2001.

Meanwhile, this was the last time that Galatasaray reached this stage and they are unlikely to go any further again, with Real Madrid 1/12 to progress to the semi finals.

This is the only game in the quarter finals that actually pits against each other two domestic champions from last season.

Finally, Borussia Dortmund have been given a solid chance of reaching the last-four too, as they meet Malaga.
