On-song Montenegro well-priced to dodge England loss

| 25.03.2013

Montenegro usurped all the odds in the Euro 2012 qualification campaign, reaching the play-offs after finishing as runners up behind England.

They owed this play-off appearance to draws both home and away with the Three Lions and, with the Montenegrins determined to prove this was no fluke in their efforts to qualify for the 2014 World Cup, they look excellent value to avoid defeat once more when the sides renew hostilities in Podgorica. There’ll be plenty of punters having a dabble on their price to collect at least a point – just a shade shy of 4/5 – when England are in town.

At present, Montenegro sit one place ahead of Roy Hodgson’s men in World Cup Qualifying Group H, two points clear of the early-favourites to advance as winners.

A run of four straight wins to nil has escalated them to this lofty perch so confidence will be high ahead of this crunch clash. This run of victories includes an away win over Ukraine and a 2-2 draw in Poland prior to their current hot streak which exemplifies their qualification credentials, especially when you consider that England could only manage two points from their games with these opponents.

Having got these two difficult away ventures out of the way early-doors, if the Montenegrins can avoid defeat against England, who have been a long way short of convincing in their first five group games, they’ll stand an excellent chance of bettering their Euro 2012 efforts.

England, who are playing their final competitive match of the campaign, will be seeking the win that will restore them to the summit of Group H, but know that three of their remaining four matches after this one will be played at home. It seems as though they’ll settle for a share of the spoils and bid to rain their hosts in when qualification resumes.

All of this adds up to backing Montenegro in the double chance stakes, where a tidy profit can be made at a very generous price based on current form.
