Bayern Munich v Juventus: hosts to show why they’re big favourites

Published:

Bayern Munich are the big 4/6 favourites to win their Champions League clash with Juventus this Tuesday evening – and based on their recent form it’s easy to see why.

Actually, based on their form for the entire season, it’s easy to see why.

They have won 18 of their last 19 matches (their only defeat came against Arsenal in their last Champions League outing) and defeated Hamburg 9-2 in their last Bundesliga match.

Hamburg aren’t exactly the German whipping boys either – they are currently in the top half of the Bundesliga – but Bayern absolutely demolished them and that should sound as a warning to anyone considering backing Juventus at 4/1.

It won’t be quite so easy against Juventus, but it’s tough to see Bayern getting anything other than a win out of this encounter.

Their record in the Champions League is absolutely fantastic and that defeat against Arsenal was only their second defeat in 90 minutes in 14 European games.

However, while they have a great record of winning in Europe they don’t have an excellent record of keeping the opposition from scoring.

In fact, in ten of their last 11 Champions League games they have conceded at least one goal.

With Juventus finding the net in each of their last nine European games, backing both sides to score looks like an extremely tempting supplementary bet at 17/20.

Finally, Claudio Pizarro found the net four times in their mauling of Hamburg last Saturday and he can be backed at 8/1 to find the net first this Tuesday.
