Massa and Rosberg looking good for a top-six finish in China

Published:

With points on offer for the first 10 finishers in Formula One nowadays, there is plenty of opportunity for some punts beyond the podium placings.

The Top 6 Finish market offers some sturdy prices on Felipe Massa and Nico Rosberg at 4/5 and 10/11 respectively.

Massa has finished in the top six in nine of his last 11 races, including both events this season, while Rosberg dominated this race in 2012, and boasts a Mercedes car that is arguably second-quickest on the grid.

Bigger value can be found on Romain Grosjean at 13/8, who finished sixth last time out in Malaysia, and will be welcoming a host of upgrades for this event.

Pastor Maldonado is the outside bet in this market at 9/1 in his Williams, and though neither team nor driver have unlocked their potential this season, the team finished seventh and eighth in China last year.

The Top 10 Finish market also offers promising rewards, with the Chinese Grand Prix often the scene for some significant results lower down the grid.

Sebastian Vettel picked up his and Torro Rosso’s then-highest place of fourth in Shanghai in 2007, while Vitaly Petrov grabbed his first F1 points in 2010 and Bruno Senna netted his best finish in last year’s race.

With that in mind, a top 10 finish and first career points look more than possible for Williams’s Valtteri Bottas and Sauber’s Esteban Gutierrez at 5/2 and 3/1 respectively, with the duo driving machines more than capable of picking up points on a regular basis.

Anyone fancying an outsider would be wise to look at Jules Bianchi at 20/1.

The Italian has been making headlines down the back of the grid, and has frequently pushed the more established teams so far this season in his Marussia.

He finished 13th last time out, and though a little luck may be required, a top 10 is not out of the question.
