Denmark are shortest price ever to win Eurovision song contest

Denmark’s recent Eurovision record has had them on the brink of victory, but based on the early betting, they look the stand-out winners in 2013.

In fact, Emmelie De Forest is so well fancied to triumph with her hit “Only Teardrops” that she is the shortest priced favourite ever to win the competition this far in advance of the show, opening up at 6/4 in the Eurovision betting.

The song doesn’t come across as being anything particularly special, but it has some of the key ingredients that suggest it should do well.

An attractive young female singer in the 20-year-old De Forest must be more of a positive than a negative, while the vibe given by the backing set does come across as that of a winner. Make your own mind up by watching the song above.

Furthermore, Lisa Cabble was a contributor in the writing of the song and she has previous for being involved with well-received Denmark Eurovision entries.

She helped pen “Fra Mols til Skagen”, which finished fifth in 1995 and was also involved in the writing of “New Tomorrow” in 2011, which occupied the same finishing spot.

Denmark’s recent record has been fairly good, with top-five finishes in two of the last three years as they go in search of a third Eurovision success overall and a first since 2000.

Meanwhile, it is worth noting that the last time that Eurovision was held in Sweden was the last time that Denmark were victorious.

Punters prepared to take on the hefty favourite in Malmo may wish to do so with Ukraine, who come next in the Eurovision betting at 15/4.

Ukraine finished 15th last year and this was their worst result for seven years, which indicates that they are likely to be there or thereabouts in the final standings with the track “Gravity” by Zlata.
