French Open accumulator: Rosol to progress to face Nadal again
Published:The final matches in the men’s second round at the French Open are now due to be played and we have made three odds-against selections to help uncover a potentially lucrative accumulator that pays out at 15/1.
One odds-on selection has also been included in the fourfold, with home hope Benoit Paire expected to make light work of Lukasz Kubot.
Paire was one of our successful inclusions in our first-round accumulator that was only let down by Ivan Dodig’s 10-8 fifth-set reverse to Guido Pella and Kubot should prove an easier opponent than Marco Baghdatis.
The Frenchman has won all of his three career showdowns with Kubot and arrives at Roland Garros bang in form after reaching the semi finals of his final tune-up event in Rome.
Another player displaying solid recent form on clay is Lukas Rosol, who is already a title winner on the surface this season in Bucharest.
He will not have it easy against Fabio Fognini, but should be spurred on by the prospect of a probable third-round meeting with Rafael Nadal, who he famously beat at Wimbledon last year.
The other match winner in the accumulator is Dmitry Tursunov in what could be a marathon with Victor Hanescu.
Backing a tie-break in the match also looks a smart move, but the reason for the inclusion was the struggles that Hanescu had in his opener against an obviously injured Bernard Tomic.
Meanwhile, Tursunov leads the head-to-head between the duo 3-1.
Finally, backing Yen-Hsun Lu to beat Philipp Kohlscreiber at 11/2 may be pushing things a bit too far, but the Chinese Taipei player is capable of winning at least one set in the match.
Kohlscreiber was average at best in his opener, dropping a set to world number 127 Jiri Vesely and has not demolished Lu in their previous meetings, which includes one defeat.
