Moyes to Man Utd backers will be hoping he doesn’t do a Solskjaer

Many reports are indicating that David Moyes will be announced as the next Manchester United manager within the next 24 hours and as a result some punters may still feel that 1/10 offers some value in the Everton boss taking over at Old Trafford.

Moyes has always been prominent in the next Man Utd manager betting since Sir Alex Ferguson announced he will be stepping down at the end of the season, but something has triggered an added splurge in bets.

At one point, Moyes was as big as 6/4 and second favourite to Jose Mourinho, but this price is now long gone.

However, although his current price suggests that Moyes to Man Utd is a done deal, punters will do well to remember a similar situation at Aston Villa in the summer.

Solskjaer was also backed into 1/10 to take over at Villa Park from Molde a year ago, but eventually ruled himself out of the running and Paul Lambert was appointed.

Moyes is highly unlikely to withdraw himself from the Old Trafford hotseat in the same way given that the chance to manage arguably the most high-profile club in the world does not emerge all that often.

But it is worth noting that backing at such short prices does not always result in profit.

For punters believing that there is still some competition to Moyes replacing his fellow Scot, Mourinho is now out to 5/1, Jurgen Klopp is 16/1 and it is 25/1 bar for everyone else.
