Youtube views suggest 20/1 winner of The Voice

Given that to date, punters have only heard each act through to the battle rounds of The Voice sing for 90 seconds and that a quarter of the blind auditions are still to be aired, it may seem a little foolhardy to pick a winner.

However, Youtube clips give some indication into the popularity of each act and judging on the views of every contestant through the BBC channel, Ash Morgan is head and shoulders above the competition at present.

Ash was the first act shown on this year’s show and his rendition of “Never Tear Us Apart”, originally by INXS and recently covered by Paloma Faith, has already been seen more than 580,000 times.

This is easily more than double the next highest of will.i.am lookalike Matt Henry, who is labouring on a little more than 223,000 views.

Granted, some would argue that as these two were both on in the first week then they are entitled to have more views than more recent auditionees, but Ash’s advantage is certainly significant.

Liam Tamne is the early favourite to win The Voice at 10/1, but is back on 187,000 views and backing Ash at 20/1 at this stage must be considered a wiser strategy.

Of those acts on more recently, the other two that appeal at bigger prices are Conor Scott and Leah McFall, who are 25/1 and 20/1 respectively.

The pair have both surpassed 150,000 views even though they only sung one week ago and Leah in particular is an interesting candidate as she is with will.i.am.

Based on the Youtube views, the act towards the head of the betting to oppose at this stage is Alex Buchanan at 14/1, who was shown on one of the earlier shows, but is still to pass the 100,000 view mark.

In fact, he is not far ahead of Karl Michael, whose video has barely been available for a little more than one day.
