Attraction may be next Susan Boyle on Britain’s Got Talent

Beaten odds-on favourites are nothing new on Britain’s Got Talent and this may mean punters are playing a risky game in continuing to back Attraction off the boards to triumph in this year’s final.

The shadow dancers have been responsible for 90 per cent of recent bets to secure victory and as a result they are now as short as 1/4 to do so.

This has proved no deterrent to punters though, with bets of £10,000 still being placed on an Attraction victory.

But punters should be wary, as it has become a fairly common occurrence on the show for the well-backed favourite to miss out on victory.

Ronan Parke was sent off at 1/6 when beaten by Jai McDowell in 2011, while Susan Boyle was regarded as a banker winner until being thwarted by Diversity two years previous.

Attraction have been clear market leaders since their first audition, but there are certainly reasons as to why they won’t win, which would in turn continue the cycle of a big favourite losing every two years.

Firstly, they are from Hungary and although it shouldn’t matter, some voters will not vote for an overseas act winning a show called Britain’s Got Talent.

Secondly, their performances at audition and in the semi finals were pretty much the same and although they are clearly impressive, another similar, predictable tear-jerking routine could result in them coming in for some criticism for repetition.

A slight diversion from their norm may be necessary to ensure they remain the act to beat and they certainly have a big ask to step up on what they have already produced.

Therefore, there could be some mileage in voting for an act further back in the betting landing the spoils.

Jack Carroll is 5/1, with Richard and Adam priced at 16/1, which is the same price as Luminites.
