Al Kazeem offer means backing Toronado is a must at York
Richard Hannon’s struggles to win Group 1 contests over distances further than 1m is one reason why it may be proving difficult to back Toronado with any real certainty at 13/8 to win the Juddmonte International.
However, the case to do so is significantly strengthened by a money back offer for the Group 1 contest, with online, shops and Ladbrokes App customers entitled to their losing stakes refunded as a free bet on every runner in the race should Al Kazeem triumph.
Full terms and conditions of the promotion can be found here.
Al Kazeem is 6/4 and has quite clearly been the star horse over 1m2f over the Flat season, winning all three starts at the trip, with the latter pair of these also coming in Group 1 company.
He may set the standard at the distance, but there will be plenty believing that Toronado can step up on a winning effort over 1m last time on what will be his first attempt at an extended distance, especially given that he is the highest-rated horse in the race.
The decision to abandon prominent racing tactics to a more hold-up style may help him get the additional 2f and jockey Richard Hughes is confident that his stamina will hold out.
Much could come down to how quick they travel early, with trainer Hannon chasing a first Group 1 success in over 20 years in a race run over further than 1m, which is an unbelievable statistic.
The Al Kazeem offer may also tempt some to invest in one of the other four runners, with Pricewise pick Trading Leather liable to take them along and it may be in his interest to turn it into a true stamina test given his previous winning form over 1m4f.
Of the others, Hillstar is liable to find this tough based on the fact he has been beaten twice in handicap company over 1m2f, there is no reason to believe Declaration Of War can reverse prior losing form with the two market principals and Rewarded simply isn’t good enough.
