Wins for PSG and Bayern kick-start weekend accumulator

Two of Europe’s premier footballing top-flights get under way this weekend, with action from France and Germany poised to begin.

After Bayern Munich and PSG’s dominance in the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 last year it is hard to oppose a repeat of the 2012-13 campaign at 2/11 and 2/7 respectively.

However, the opening day brings with it new look outfits and here Ladbrokes guide you through a sure-fire Franco-German accumulator.

Bayern to beat Borussia Mönchengladbach at 1/7

Despite their predictably short odds of 1/7 to dispatch of Borussia Mönchengladbach on home soil on the opening day it is impossible not to back Pep Guardiola’s men. The champions lost just once in the league last term and  have won 16 and drawn one of their last previous 17 Bundesliga ties.. The arrival of the ex-Barca boss has only strengthened the treble winners’ position at the summit of German football and three points here looks a banker.

Stuttgart to beat Mainz at 2/1

Stuttgart didn’t enjoy the strongest of seasons last time out, finishing a disappointing 12th but will be expected to push for a top half finish this year. They have added Mohammed Abdellaoue from Hannover, who has a keen eye for goal, averaging better than a goal every three games. Opponents Mainz have lost star man Adam Szalai and could be in for a difficult season.

Schalke to beat Hamburg at 4/9

Schalke’s summer has gone very well. The Gelsenkirchen side managed to tie down German wonderkid Julian Draxler to a new deal and will also be able to call on the services of Klaas Jan Huntelaar despite taking a backward step last term.  Hamburg failed to register a win in their last five pre-season games and needed late goals against fifth-tier SV SCHOTT Jena to avoid embarrassment in their German Cup tie last week. Der Dinosaurier have also lost last year’s best player Son, who moved to Bayer Leverkusen after impressing with12 goals from the wing.

PSG to beat Montpellier at 4/5

Champions PSG have the pleasure of pairing Edinson Cavani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic up front this term and it is hard to see anything other than successive titles. Montpellier haven’t beaten the capital club in a league tie at home since 2003 and have failed to register a win against them in five attempts.

Marseille to beat Guingamp at 11/10

Marseille qualified for the Champions League last season and are perhaps best equipped to challenged the expected top two of PSG and Monaco. OM have added Dimitri Payet to their ranks who was sublime at Lille last term, taking on the creative mantle left by Eden Hazard’s move to Chelsea. The 26-year-old hit 16 league goals last year and looks a shrewd signing. Les Phocéens have won on their last two trips to Guingamp and should have too much for the newly promoted club.
