Fellaini’s 1/4 price indicates Everton will struggle to keep Belgian
Published:The future of Everton star Marouane Fellaini hangs in the balance, but after Manchester United’s struggles against Liverpool, David Moyes is poised to step up his efforts to bring the player to Old Trafford.
There’s nothing like a defeat to your arch rivals to get the supporters’ backs up and with the hourglass rapidly draining on the summer transfer window, Moyes must act as an offer of appeasement to disgruntled fans.
It’s no secret Moyes has been courting his former Goodison Park player for most of the summer, but after an initial double swoop for him and Leighton Baines was rejected, reports suggest the Scot will be forced into ramping up the offers on deadline day to prise Fellaini and Baines away from Everton.
The market is certainly a reflection of this theory, with a Baines move to Old Trafford rated at evens, while Fellaini is now odds on at 1/4 to join Man Utd and 11/4 to remain an Evertonian before the 11pm September 2nd deadline.
Having appeared to have lost out on Athletic Bilbao’s Ander Herrera and with Mesut Ozil poised to join Arsenal, signing a midfielder has to be top priority for the Man Utd boss now.
Meanwhile, Baines has already told Roberto Martinez he would like the opportunity to join his former manager and if the offer meets Everton’s valuation, then he’ll surely be on his way to Manchester.
