James Bond specials released as filmmakers hint at Ireland

A Guinness, shaken, but not stirred, doesn’t quite have the right ring to it. Nonetheless, it’s 28/1 with Ladbrokes that Hollywood’s favourite spy orders up a pint of the black stuff when the new James Bond movie hits our screens.

With the news that James Bond producers have Ireland on their shortlist of locations for the next film, Ladbrokes are taking bets on possible landmarks and personalities that could be featured.

It’s most likely movie-goers would be treated to at least a glimpse of Irish capital Dublin in all its finery for the big flick, where Ladbrokes are offering their shortest price of 5/1 that the movie will capture Agent 007 jumping into the River Liffey, while 25/1 says he will scale O’Connell Street’s 398-foot Spire.

Meanwhile, a shoot-out in Dublin’s famous Shelbourne Hotel is priced at 20/1 and it’s just 13/2 a chase scene on the Luas will be included in the potential blockbuster.

Locations outside Dublin are also listed in the betting, with the bookmaker offering 33/1 for 007 to go surfing in Sligo and 40/1 that a high-speed car chase will be recorded around the winding roads of the Dingle peninsula.

It’s 33/1 that a night scene will be recorded in hot spot Krystle or Copper Face Jacks, while choosing to order a Guinness over the favoured Martini in his legendary manner is offered out at 28/1.

In anticipation that some indigenous talent could be enlisted in the upcoming motion picture, Ladbrokes is giving 50/1 that Roz Purcell will land a role as a Bond Girl and just 3/1 that a member of the Love/Hate cast will make an appearance.

Hayley O’Connor of Ladbrokes said: “If Ireland is chosen as a back drop for the next Bond blockbuster, with so many villains to choose from we’ve made the odds in favour a Love/Hate cast member landing a role.”

Ladbrokes have made it odds-on at 4/7 for filming to be delayed due to bad weather.
