Aston Villa v Everton: Over 3.5 goals is way to go at Villa

| 25.10.2013

This historic top-flight fixture has supplied more than its fair share of goal-filled entertainment over the years and there’s plenty of reason to believe the very next edition will follow suit.

Punters looking at the Premier League fixture list and scratching their bonces over where to place their hard-earned pennies, may well do worse than backing a bit of a barnstormer at Villa Park.

This grand old match-up of English football has seen goals flying in at both ends in nine of the last 10 Premier League meetings between Aston Villa and Everton – including the last five in a row.

This stat alone is enough to steer people towards the 3/4 that both keepers will be forced into ball-retrieval duties at Villa Park.

The likelihood of this eventuality is borne out even further by the fact that the hosts have now conceded in 15 consecutive home games in the Premier League, which happens to be the longest current run of any club in the competition’s history.

Meanwhile, the Toffees have not kept a clean sheet in any of their last 18 Premier League meetings against the Midlands outfit.

However, there are potentially more profitable avenues to explore than just both teams finding the net.

Last season, the two league games produced 10 goals, with Goodison Park playing witness to a 3-3 thriller, while Everton inflicted a 3-1 defeat in this fixture.

In fact, four of the last five top-flight fixtures between the clubs have not only surpassed the 2.5 goals mark, but the 3.5 goals line as well – with three of those ending as high-scoring draws.

Therefore, much like both teams scoring; the 20/21 on over 2.5 goals looks a shoo-in, whereas the 12/5 that the total number of goals surpassing 3.5 has to be the bet of choice.
