Atalanta’s German Denis is a sure-fire first goalscorer against Inter

Inter Milan may be riding high on the wave of optimism generated from new manager Walter Mazzarri but they could soon be brought crashing down to earth by Atalanta and their hotshot striker German Denis.

The 32-year-old forward has enjoyed a renaissance in the latter stages of his career and represents La Dea’s main goalscoring threat in Serie A having registered 16 and 15 goals over the last two seasons respectively.

Denis has proven particularly prolific at home this term, with three of his four strikes in the top flight coming at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia.

A late winner against visitors Lazio showcased his ability to deliver on the big occasion and the Argentine will have few nerves heading into this encounter with Inter Milan.

Last season the former Napoli forward registered an impressive five goals in two fixtures against the Nerazzurri, scoring a hat-trick at the San Siro along with two goals in their home encounter earlier in the campaign.

And with Denis notching up three goals in Atalanta’s last two home matches, odds of 11/2 on the South American star scoring the opener against the Milan club look  tempting.

He will certainly be fired up for the occasion, which offers the forward the chance at another reunion with Mazzarri – the manager who sold him to Udinese while in charge of Napoli back in 2010.

Both of last season’s fixtures between the two sides featured five or more goals and Atalanta fans will be hopeful of witnessing another goal fest here after seeing Inter record a 3-3 draw with Torino and a 4-2 win over Verona in their previous two Serie A games.

With odds of 6/1 offered on over 4.5 combined goals being scored in this fixture, there is definitely plenty of value to be had from a potentially goal-laden fixture.
