Goals galore in our Champions League Group H preview

Published:

Two tight matches are expected in Group H as the group standings should be configured by the next two rounds of fixtures, and we have dug into the details to pick out some tasty bets.

Goal to be scored between 75.00 – Full Time in AC Milan v Barcelona @ 17/20

A record-equalling 14th meeting of the two sides will likely settle who will win the group, but don’t expect the match to be decided until late in the day.

All four of the goals in AC Milan’s two matches so far have come after the 80th minute, while Barcelona have netted a goal after the 75th in both of their games.

Milan have also netted after that mark six times in their eight Serie A matches this season and there was a late goal in both legs of their Champions League last-16 tie with Barcelona last season.

Barcelona are favourites to win the game at 3/5, a result that would put them five points clear at the top of Group H, but Milan will be hoping to repeat the performance that saw them run out 2-0 winners in the home leg of the last-16 tie last season.

Both teams to score in Celtic v Ajax @ 4/6

Had Ajax held on to beat AC Milan in their last match, they might have harboured some hope of edging into the top two in the group, but this game is set to be vital only in deciding third place.

Celtic have not scored in any of their past four Champions League matches. However, considering they have played Juventus twice, Barcelona and Milan in that run there is mitigation behind their drought.

Ajax’s porous defence will aid their quest for goals, as the visitors have not kept a clean sheet in their last nine Champions League games, conceding 24 in that run.

Celtic have not fared any better, also conceding in each of their last nine in the Champions League, suggesting both teams will be able to find the net at some stage at Celtic Park.
