Win money on England, Wales and Northern Ireland qualifiers

Published:

With Scotland not in action in this batch of World Cup qualifiers, it is left to England, Wales and Northern Ireland to fly the home nations flag.

Our best bets for their respective three matches are below with the three World Cup bets combining to make a 17/1 treble.

Azerbaijan v Northern Ireland: Azerbaijan to keep a clean sheet @ 13/10

If not for the referee playing six minutes of stoppage time, Azerbaijan would have kept a clean sheet at Windsor Park in the earlier rungs of World Cup qualifying.

Now on their own patch, Azerbaijan can defend solidly again and they have shut out the opposition on five of their eight last home fixtures.

Throw in that Northern Ireland have failed to score on six of their last nine away days and further credence is added to the bet.

There is some appeal in Azerbaijan winning to nil at 12/5.

Wales v Macedonia: Goal scored between 75 minutes and full time @ 23/20

Nothing obvious to side with here, given Wales’ injury troubles to the majority of their big names and two wins in nine at home, while Macedonia have lost four on the bounce away, failing to score in each of their last three.

Under 2.5 goals looks probable, but is not a great price at 11/20 and so 23/20 may be best accepted that a goal is scored in the final 15 minutes in Cardiff.

All of Macedonia’s last four games and two of Wales’ last four have seen a goal scored in the period between 75 minutes and the final whistle.

England v Montenegro: England to win and both teams to score @ 13/5

England have not kept three successive clean sheets since Euro 2008 qualifying and even though Montenegro are on a four-game winless run, they have scored in three of these fixtures.

Roy Hodgson’s men are unbeaten in seven at home, with five wins in this time against distinguished opposition including Italy and Brazil.

With the added incentive of knowing a victory is required to keep World Cup qualification in their own hands, England will shade victory, with a 3-1 triumph at 12/1 holding some value as Ladbrokes are offering the best industry price.
