X Factor: Which 12 acts will make it to the live shows

Our performance was admirable in correctly identifying 21 of the 24 X Factor contestants to make it through boot camp and we are keen to improve on this strike rate in picking the right 12 that will progress through judges’ houses and into the live shows.

Girls

We have written a more in-depth piece on this market here, but two spots do seem as good as filled in Nicole Scherzinger’s final three, with Tamera Foster and Abi Alton on track to progress.

Hannah Barrett and Melanie McCabe are both 10/1 to win the X Factor, which shows how difficult it is to pick one over the other, but the former can get through, leaving Melanie coming to terms with a fourth failure to reach the live shows.

Boys

Nicholas McDonald is the stand-out act in this category and a shoo-in to go through, but given Louis Walsh is doing the picking, the other two places are not so clear-cut.

Paul Akister has the best voice, but Louis may decide to go with those with a more complete package, especially as he can lack a bit of stage presence.

Sam Callahan has the mix of appearance and voice to get through and given that Luke Friend offers something a bit different, he may well steal the final spot.

Overs

There is virtually no chance that Sam Bailey won’t make it through, while given that he is the only guy in the group and Sharon Osbourne’s love of a rock voice, Joseph Whelan will probably be in the final three.

A novelty-type act generally make the live shows and this category may be the best chance of providing one with Shelley Smith, who is a far better singer than the average novelty, but her personality is slightly on the hyper side.

Groups

This is undoubtedly the toughest group to predict, as there is not one stand-out act to truly have confidence in.

Kingsland Road can be supported with come confidence, as at least one boyband usually makes the live shows.

Beyond them, groups assembled at boot camp have also traditionally made the lives, which bodes well for Miss Dynamix. The last spot looks to be between Rough Copy and Brick City, with the latter arguably better, but the former more likely to get through.
