Fulham v Man Utd: Rooney to lead visitors to victory at Craven Cottage

Published:

Manchester United fans will be hoping their late comeback against Stoke is set to finally kickstart the David Moyes era at Old Trafford, and they have an ideal fixture to follow up the 3-2 win over the Potters.

United have beaten Fulham in each of their past six matches against them, winning 1-0 and 5-0 in their most recent trips to Craven Cottage, and are 8/13 to make it seven from seven.

Key to their efforts will be a revitalised Wayne Rooney, who has netted eight in his past 12 for club and country after overcoming his summer sulks.
The 28-year-old has enjoyed playing against Fulham in recent years, scoring six in as many games against the Cottagers, including the winner in United’s 1-0 victory last season.

Rooney is 4/1 to open the scoring, and 1/1 to find the net at anytime.

One goal will probably not be enough for the champions this time around, as they have not kept a clean sheet in any of their last five Premier League matches.

Fulham have scored in each of their five home games in all competitions this season, but have kept their opponents at bay only once, making backing both teams to score at 5/6 a good bet.

Martin Jol enters the game as the 1/1 favourite to be the next manager to leave his post following losses to Southampton and Leicester, which has piled added pressure on the Dutchman.

After the Manchester United match, Fulham travel to a Liverpool team spearheaded by the rampant Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge. Should Jol’s side lose both games he could well be shown the door.

Fulham are currently 14th in the Premier League, hovering a precarious two points above the relegation zone after losing five of their opening nine matches.
