Goals to flow with Evian providing the perfect tonic for Monaco

Published:

Monaco’s recent 2-0 defeat to fellow Ligue 1 pacesetters Lille was perhaps a rude awakening for Claudio Ranieri’s star-studded side.

However, expect Radamel Falcao and co. to make a swift return to winning ways when they host struggling Evian.

Hannover and Osasuna can also oblige when they face Braunschweig and Almeria respectively, with this European football treble returning £43.44 from a £10 stake.

Monaco v Evian – Monaco to win @ 2/9

Consecutive defeats have seen Monaco exit the French League Cup and lose top spot in Ligue 1.

But the visit of Evian is unlikely to pose the same problems with inspired goalkeeping from Lille’s Vincent Enyeama an instrumental factor in Les Rouge et Blanc’s recent 2-0 reverse.

Prior to that loss Monaco had been in free-scoring form, notching up 20 goals in 11 matches, with Colombian hitman Falcao contributing eight of those strikes.

Evian have enjoyed something of a resurgence of late but recent league victories against lowly Toulouse and Valenciennes are hardly worth shouting about with Monaco likely to provide a much sterner test.

Hannover v Braunschweig – Hannover to win @ 8/13

Ignore Braunschweig’s recent 1-0 victory over an under-strength Bayer Leverkusen team – Die Löwen are Bundesliga relegation fodder and Hannover are primed to pile on more misery for Torsten Lieberknecht’s side.

Four defeats in five away league games this season highlights their plight, with the 10 goals conceded in those matches only further emphasising the task that awaits them at the HDI-Arena.

Naturally, onlookers will point to Hannover’s recent run of poor form as reason to avoid any show of support.

But five victories in their last seven matches at home is grounds enough to believe they can kick-start their season at the expense of a side who are likely to remain in the relegation mire.

Osasuna v Almeria – Osasuna to win @ 6/5

Home form could once again prove crucial to Osasuna’s battle against the drop.

And this proverbial ’six-pointer’ versus Almeria should see Los Rojillos pull away from the chasing pack at the bottom of La Liga.

A brief fillip last time out against Valencia aside, Almeria have travelled poorly this season.

The visitors have shipped 14 goals on the road while Osasuna have recorded two victories in their previous four as hosts, with a creditable draw against Barcelona sandwiched in between.
